David Balter

David Balter joined DP&F in 2005 as a member of our Litigation Department. David's practice emphasizes creditor's rights, commercial and general business litigation, commercial landlord/tenant matters, alternative dispute resolution, real estate, construction defect and mechanic's lien issues. David has practiced in these areas of the law since 2000.

Prior to joining DP&F, David worked for ten years with the law firm of Shapiro Buchman Provine & Patton, LLP, in Walnut Creek, California – five years as an attorney and five years as a Legal Assistant in the litigation department. David also worked at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office as a Collection Enforcement Deputy and was the Senior Legal Assistant at the San Francisco office of the international law firm, Coudert Brothers.

David is a member of the bars of the State of California, the United States District Court for the Northern and Eastern Districts of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal, and the United States Court of Federal Claims, as well as a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association - Litigation Section and the Napa County Bar Association. David is also a delegate to the State Bar of California - Conference of Delegates and is a guest lecturer for the National Business Institute, Inc., Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

David attended College of the Redwoods, Eureka, California, Diablo Valley College, Pleasant Hill, California and the University of California – Berkeley (Extension.) He received his Juris Doctor from John F. Kennedy University – School of Law in 1999.

Outside of the office, David enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and riding his mountain bike.
