Francis J. Collin, Jr.

Frank Collin received his B.A. degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1964, and his J.D. degree at the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall) in 1967. Frank was a partner in the San Francisco law firm of Heller, Ehrman, White & McAuliffe until November of 1979, when he joined DP&F. He is the immediate past President of the Napa County Bar Association.

Frank's practice is limited to trusts, estates, and the tax complexities that relate to trusts and estates.  He specializes in family business succession planning and planning for the owners of agricultural property.  He is a Fellow, former Regent, and former Executive Committee member of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a national organization of trust and estate specialists. He is also a member of the American Bar Association's Section on Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, the California Bar Association's Section on Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law.

He is a former instructor of estate planning at the Golden Gate University Graduate School of Taxation, and is a State of California Certified Specialist in Probate, Estate Planning and Trust Law. He has written and lectured extensively for various national, state and local publications and symposiums, and is a co-author of "Drafting The Durable Power of Attorney - A Systems Approach," a nationally circulated treatise for attorneys.

Frank was selected as one of the best lawyers in America in Naifeh and Smith, The Best Lawyers In America (1987, Woodward/White, Inc.) and has been selected in each subsequent edition of that publication. He was recently named as one of Northern California's top 100 lawyers by San Francisco magazine, and has been recognized by The Best of the U.S. as one of California's leading trust and estate attorneys.

He is an honorary trustee of the Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation, and was instrumental in the establishment of the Foundation’s Endowment Fund. He continues to serve as a member of the Foundation’s Endowment Committee.
