• Vineyard Development – Legal advice to clients in vineyard development and corresponding compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
• Represents numerous clients on lot line adjustments, certificates of compliance and Williamson Act contracts.
• Napa County General Plan Update – Advised several wine and hospitality industry clients in relation to the Napa County General Plan Update process, which spanned 2005-2008.
• Black Stallion Winery –Obtained approval of a use permit to expand winery’s crush pad area and relocate existing laboratory.
• Talcott Winery – Land use due diligence for acquisition of the Talcott Winery in St. Helena.
• Queen of the Valley Medical Center North Building (City of Napa) – Obtained use permit, CEQA review, and design review permit to construct three story, 72,000 square foot building housing intensive care, laboratory and surgery. Project included meeting LEED Silver standards under the City’s Green Building Ordinance and required annexation of the project site into the Napa Sanitation District.
• The Meadows of Napa Valley (City of Napa) – Obtained approval of a use permit, design review permit, CEQA review, and rezoning to allow 122,000 square foot expansion and remodel of retirement facility in five phases.
• Winery, Agriculture and Commercial Entitlements - Entitlements on a 4-building, 2-block 500,000 square foot high-tech/biotech project in Seattle's commercial core area, which included securing partial demolition permits for designated landmark, negotiatio
• Various subdivisions, apartment, condominium and condo-conversion and in or around Napa; responsibility includes advice on environmental review, map compliance, community strategy and hearings before Planning Commission and City Council
• Residential Entitlements - Lead land use counsel on 600,000 sf residential, mixed-use project in Seattle's downtown core; permitting includes demolition of 6-story building and construction of 50,000 sf grocery store, 50,000 sf retail uses, 150,000 sf off
• Planning and permitting on golf courses and related development
• Permitting of re-use of buildings and new construction for Oxbow public market
• Permitting for 20-year master plans for multiple college campuses, including hearings before City Hearing Examiner and City Council approval, preparation of EIS, and over two years of public planning and defense of appeals
• Lead land use counsel on various winery and vineyard acquisitions in Napa and Sonoma counties
• Land use entitlements and local negotiations for luxury and busines hotels in or around Napa, including a 180 unit condo-hotel, a 350-unit luxury hotel, and expansion of small luxury inns, which include projects adjacent to navigable waters with wetlands
• Land use counsel on new winery development and winery expansions in Napa and Sonoma counties.
• Due diligence and initial permitting, including transfer of development rights, for downtown Seattle luxury hotel
• Due diligence and entitlements for development of resort property, including environmental review, endangered species compliance, wetlands review and permitting, historic resources, Fish and Game permits and local land use permitting and zoning changes.
• Counsel on obtaining shoreline permits for expansion of restaurant at marina, and advice on acquisition and operation of two commercial/retail marinas, including negotiation of State Waterway permits, shoreline permits and access realignments
• Counsel for local hospitals on campus expansions
