Land Use

DP&F’s Land Use Department has developed a close, working relationship with the professional staff of the County of Napa and its cities and towns, as well as within the adjoining counties of Sonoma and Solano. We keep abreast of, and have had significant input into, major land use, natural resource, and environmental regulations affecting property owners. Our client list contains many of the most prominent businesses and individuals investing in the wine country and in California lands.  Our core clients include many of the best known North Coast wineries and growers, as well as industrial, commercial and residential developers.

Our attorneys have been actively involved in such pivotal issues as the drafting of winery regulations, regulations affecting hillside vineyards, water use, and regulations and entitlements involving the development of commercial, residential and resort properties.  We have uniquely and successfully pioneered the use of initiatives where necessary to achieve our clients' land use objectives. Our attorneys have extensive experience in the land use regulatory, natural resource, and environmental review process at all government levels.

Our long term working relationships with elected officials and administrative staffs allow us to react quickly to – and sometimes to predict – important government actions affecting landowners and developers. The Land Use Department regularly informs other departments within the firm of land use regulations or proposals that may have a significant effect on clients not directly involved in land use matters.
