  • Biography

Joy joined DP&F in 2015 and is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Her practice focuses on developing and managing U.S. and international trademark portfolios including trademark clearance, prosecution of applications for registration before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and enforcement. Joy also has extensive litigation experience representing clients in federal court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board.

Joy earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Saint Mary’s College of California, her Master’s degree in Business Administration from Sonoma State University and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

As a law student, Joy had the unique opportunity to work as an extern to the Honorable Ming Chin of the California Supreme Court, and as an intern in the office of the general counsel for the San Francisco Giants.

Joy began her legal career as a commercial litigation associate in the San Francisco office of Reed Smith, LLP.  While there, her practice included all aspects of complex commercial litigation in both state and federal courts.  In 2011, Joy opened her own law office providing comprehensive legal services for small businesses.

Born and raised in Santa Rosa, Joy is thrilled to be back in Sonoma County.  An avid traveler and adventurer, she has found that there really is “no place like home.”
