Dickenson Peatman & Fogarty is pleased to announce that Tom Adams has joined DP&F as Senior Counsel in the Land Use department in the firm’s Napa office.  Mr. Adams brings over 14 years of outside and in-house experience in providing legal counsel on environmental permitting, land use, the California Environmental Quality Act, and water rights.  “Since Joe Peatman began doing land use work in the 1960s, DP&F has been involved with all aspects of land use development in Napa County.  Tom’s addition to the firm continues this land use tradition and expands it to other winegrowing regions in the West,” said Richard Mendelson, Of Counsel in DP&F’s Land Use department.

Before joining DP&F, Mr. Adams was in-house with a large vineyard development company where he provided legal counsel and project management services for more than 35 vineyard and winery properties throughout California (Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Santa Barbara Counties), Oregon, and Washington.  Mr. Adams is the lead legal consultant on some of the North Coast’s largest and most complicated vineyard projects, providing him with unique experience on many of the most contemporary environmental issues facing the wine industry, including timber and oak woodland conversions, climate change, water rights/in-stream flows, groundwater and water quality.  His practice also includes local government matters involving winery use permits, lot line adjustments, easements and entitlements.

Mr. Adams is a member of the Environmental Section of the State Bar of California and serves on the Land Trust of Napa County Project Committee.  He has also taught NEPA, CEQA, and Environmental Permit Streamlining for UC Davis Extension.  Mr. Adams graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.  Mr. Adams may be reached at [email protected] or 707-252-7122.
