Gregory J. Walsh

1975 - 2017

  • Biography

Our core philosophy at DP&F is to provide full service legal advice to our clients from high quality attorneys who understand our clients’ businesses.  This philosophy relies on collaboration and collaboration thrives when colleagues respect, value and support each other.  For 12 years, we were blessed and honored to work with a person who took the firm’s philosophy and made it live and breathe every day.  Greg Walsh was the heart and soul of this firm.  He made each of us, and each of his clients, feel important.  He made work more than work.  He made challenges easier to overcome.  Greg’s passing suddenly and far, far too early has left a tremendous vacancy in our hearts.  He was an incredible father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, music lover, sports fan, adventurer, memory-maker, mentor and colleague.  He was one of the best.

Greg suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while playing in his weekly basketball game and did not recover.  He was 42 years old.  Greg was a managing partner at DP&F for 6 years and a lawyer in the firm’s Labor and Employment Group.  Greg received his J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of Law in 2000 and his B.S. in journalism from the University of Oregon in 1997.  He was a Duck to the end.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen, and his adoring children, Abigail, Zachary and Declan, as well as his parents, Jim and Jane, and sister Kathleen. He also leaves behind his wife’s family, mother Tassy, brothers Brian and Gary, and sister-in-law Melissa Harms, as well as many beloved extended family members and friends for life.

Greg’s family requests that donations be made in his honor to the “Declan Walsh Special Needs Trust.”  Checks may be sent to DP&F at 1455 First Street, Suite 301,Napa, CA 94559, or credit card donations may be made by phone by calling DP&F at 707.261.7000.  The Mother Hips, one of Greg’s favorite bands, is performing on February 3rd at the Mystic Theatre & Music Hall in Petaluma.  The Mother Hips and Blue Rose Music are donating concert proceeds to the Declan Walsh Special Needs Trust.  Enjoy the Music!
