Patrick is an associate in the firm’s Alcohol Beverage, Business, and Cannabis practice groups. His practice consists of working with wineries, breweries, and distilled spirits industry clients on a broad range of legal issues, including corporate formation and governance, obtaining alcohol beverage licenses, and the drafting of key contracts, such as grape purchase agreements, alternating proprietor agreements, vineyard leases, distribution contracts, and purchase and sale of agreements. Patrick also assists clients on state and federal alcohol beverage regulations such as franchise laws, tied-house laws, labeling requirements and changes in control.
Before joining DP&F, Patrick worked at a San Diego law firm representing clients in California’s cannabis industry and currently assists cannabis cultivators, manufacturers, distributors and retailers in obtaining local and state licenses and remaining compliant with constantly evolving cannabis regulations.
As an avid craft beer enthusiast, Patrick enrolled in the University of San Diego’s Brewery Externship program. This experience provided him insight into the production and business sides of the alcohol beverage industry. Patrick’s unique experience in the alcohol beverage and cannabis industries allows him to provide advice to clients pursing businesses ventures where these industries overlap.
Patrick earned his J.D. from Wake Forest School of Law. Patrick is licensed to practice law in California, North Carolina, and Connecticut.
