  • Biography

    Owen is an experienced business attorney in our wine law, business, and real property practice groups.  He counsels clients on an array of business matters and legal issues including entity formation and governance; private placements and securities offerings; capitalization, financing and secured transactions; compliance; and business/asset purchases and sales and related due diligence.

    Owen understands that servicing business clients requires a practical approach, focused on achieving business goals while mitigating legal risk and avoiding litigation.

    Owen’s practice includes drafting and negotiating key business contracts including definitive transaction documents; buy-sell agreements; executive compensation, equity incentive, and employment agreements; NDAs; consulting and service agreements; and commercial leases, in addition to beverage industry-specific contracts—e.g., distribution agreements, alternating proprietorships, custom crush agreements, vineyard leases, grape contracts, and brand and other IP licenses.

    Before joining DP&F, Owen worked in the San Francisco office of a nationwide labor and employment law firm where he represented employers in every aspect of employment litigation and traditional labor relations matters.

    Owen attended law school at the University of California, Davis and received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley.  During law school, Owen was a member and editor for the UC Davis Law Review and recipient of The 2010 Moses Lasky Prize for excellence in Antitrust.

    Owen is a member of the State Bar of California and admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Northern Districts of California.
