Brandon R. Blevans to present seminar on the perils of the Employee Free Choice Act

Mr. Blevans will present an hour long seminar on the Employee Free Choice Act for the Personnel Association of Sonoma County on March 19, 2009.  In its current form, the EFCA would replace most secret ballot union representation elections with a process of union-solicited employee signatures on authorization cards (“card check”). It also would authorize federally-appointed arbitrators to mandate wages, benefits and other terms of employment, binding for two years, if the parties cannot agree on a collective bargaining agreement for a first contract. This month’s program will cover the EFCA in its current form and discuss what steps employers can take so that employees do not become interested in union representation.
